Capabilities
Loach Engineering Inc. designs and manufactures packaging and material handling equipment for large printing and paper companies.
Customers include commercial printers such as Quebecor, Rand McNally, World Color, Arcata, R.R. Donnelley, and Quad Graphics, check printers such as Harland, Clarke-American and Liberty, newpapers such as Toronto Star and Globe and Mail, and paper manufacturers such as Weyerhauser and Georgia Pacific.
Machinery is designed using Autocad, Visionael, Solidworks and Ironcad.
Control systems use programmable controllers from Rockwell Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, Omron and Siemens. PC data mangement systems use Microsoft SQL Server and QNX. Integrated equipment include Involvo Casepackers, MGS pick and place feeders, and a large variety of shrink wrap and tying machines, labelers and inkjetters, barcode scanners, and operator interfaces.
Loach Engineering Inc. evolved from Sheridan-Loach Limited, a 1960's era manufacturer of machinery for the Sheridan Bookbinding and Newspaper Inserting Company (aka Harris Graphics, AM Graphics, and now the postpress division of Heidelberg). The company began as a designer and builder of support equipment for book printers and newspapers between 1952 and 1995, and then specialized in packaging and mail sorting systems for large check printers. Recently, Loach Engineering has participated in projects for the sheeting industry.
